The San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons Committee is proud to announce the return of the Feast this September 23rd and September 24th for its 11th year. The Feast will offer a fun mixture of new activities as well as old favorites that are sure to entertain the entire family. The San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons originated as a festival designed to emphasize the vitality of The Hamptons and Hampton Bays beyond the summer months.  Last year thousands of visitors from all over the tri-state area visited the heart of the Hamptons - downtown Hampton Bays – drawn by live entertainment, top-notch artisans, midway rides, fireworks and delicious Italian delicacies. This year we are expecting more families to attend and enjoy the exciting entertainment we have planned.

PARADE GRAND MARSHALLS

GRAND MARSHALL 2022 - Phil Forte - "The Humble Guy"

"Just a Humble Guy"

Phil Forte’s Bio

Phil was born in Brooklyn and spent his childhood in Ozone Park, Queens where he dreamed of starting his own business and someday traveling the world.

He respectfully served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. His dedication to his country led to 4 years of service honorably. He later served as V.F.W commander Post 2007 Palm Beach Chapter.

Upon exiting the military, he began his career as an entrepreneur and businessman. This was a fulfillment of two dreams as his career took him to Italy where he lived for four years with his wife and children. Savoring all Italy had to offer while with his family, who still lives in the village of Maranola, He explored his Italian Heritage. Many of these traditions still live with him and his family today.

Upon his returning to the United States he became a leader in the direct sales industry. These businesses took Phil all over the world. For over 50 years he blazed a trail of respect and accomplishments that follow him even today.

Phil is blessed to be married to his beautiful wife Carolyn Trotta Forte for 52 years. He has two amazing children, Peter and Danielle along with Son in Law Scott and 4 wonderful grandsons Peter, Jonathan , Brett and Alex.

Phil has brought his Italian Roots and his love of the Italian Heritage to the San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons in 2010. As a first day volunteer with knowledge of how to run a feast from his experiences in other events around the country, He was happy to step up and help the Hampton Bays Community organize their feast.

GRAND MARSHALL 2019 - John Zuccarelli

John Zuccarelli is the son of an Italian father and an Irish mother. His Calabrian heritage has always been a strong source of pride for him and his family claiming relations to important cultural figures like the17th century landscape artist Francesco Zuccarelli.   Although John grew up modestly like many other Italian immigrant families in Brooklyn, New York, he was always able to hold employment and contribute to his household of 4 siblings while maintaining his studies.  His relentless dedication to education was a constant theme is his life leading to his attaining a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from St. Johns University, a National Science Fellowship Grant  for a Master of Science in Mathematics from Aldephi University, and a completion of State Certification as a School Administrator.   His love of education didn’t stop there.  For the past 55 years, John  has  been a Mathematics educator holding positions of teacher, Chairperson of the Mathematics Department in NYC and Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Computers at St. Vincent’s College, St. John’s University, and presently an  Adjunct Assistant Professor of Mathematics  at Suffolk County Community College. While attending St. Johns University, John met his wonderful wife Valerie who also shares his love for education.  They have been married for 54 years and have three loving and successful daughters  and five delightful grandchildren.

After visiting friends in the Hamptons since the 1970s, John and Valerie decided to make the Hampton Bays their home in 1997.  John became immediately involved in local organizations including the Hampton Bays Beautification Association (serving as treasurer for 8 years);  Hampton Bays Civic Association;  Chairperson of Hampton Bays Citizens Advisory Committee; US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 18-03 ( serving as Flotilla Commander, Vessel Examiner , Crew, and Public Education ); the Irish American Society of the Hamptons; the Italian American Society of the Hamptons; St. Rosalie Church (member of the Gala Committee); and the Good Ground Park association (serving as Co-Chair for the determination of options). Within the Town of Southampton, John served  on the  Board of Assessment Review, the Conservation Board, Chairman of the Architectural Review Board and is presently serving on the Planning Board.   In John’s spare time he enjoys sailing , hiking, traveling, and the theater with his wife as well as tutoring all of his grandchildren in math.

His  Italian/Irish parents provided him with a great sense of the value of family, friends and the work ethic. One of the greatest benefits of being a part  of the Hampton Bays and Southampton communities are the many wonderful people  who he  had the pleasure to meet, work, volunteer , and socialize within this delightful environment.

GRAND MARSHALL 2018 - Gabriel Ariola

Grand Marshall 2017 - Father Edward Sheridan - Pastor of Saint Rosalie's Parish

Father Edward Sheridan

Pastor of Saint Rosalie’s Parish

I am in my eighth year as pastor here at Saint Rosalie's Parish.  During this time our parish has grown in leaps and bounds.  I thank the People of God of Saint Rosalie’s   who welcome all new parishioners together with our vibrant faith community.  How blest I am with my brother priests to celebrate the sacraments with the Saint Rosalie's parish family and work together in sharing our faith in Jesus Christ.

I am a graduate of Cathedral College, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and completed my theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary in Huntington with a Master’s Degree in Theology in 2006 and a Master’s Degree in Divinity in 2007. In January of 2017, I received a Certificate in Spiritual Direction for Diocesan Priests completing a three year program at the Institute for Priestly Formation at Mundelein Seminary in Chicago.  My background includes working in business for a number of years and returning to the seminary to complete my studies.  I was ordained a transitional Deacon in 2006 and did pastoral work at Saint Mary's in Manhasset as a Deacon.  I was ordained a priest in June 2007 and assigned to Saint Catherine of Sienna Parish in Franklin Square.  I was appointed the Administrator of Saint Catherine's during Monsignor Thomas Groenwald's terminal illness.

I was appointed Pastor at Saint Rosalie’s parish in Hampton Bays in 2010.  In 2014 I was elected and appointed Dean of the Peconic Deanery with 16 parishes including the North and South Forks of Eastern Long  Island.   I’m blessed to have worked with and continue to work with very capable and dynamic priests.  September 1, 2017, I was appointed Interim Vicar of the Eastern Vicariate of the Diocese of Rockville Centre by Bishop John Barres. This position is to assist in helping to manage the Easter part of the Diocese in assisting the Bishop in providing for the spiritual welfare of its members.

I can celebrate Mass in both Italian and Spanish.  I am Chaplain and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and Chaplain of our Ancient Order of Hibernians at Saint Rosalie’s.  I am also Chaplain for the New York State Troopers.

In 2016 I participated as Spiritual Director with young people discerning religious vocations at a retreat prior to World Youth Day in Bialystok, Poland and at W Y D in Krakow. I have participated in a number of World Youth Days including Denver in 1993 which helped me to recognize the call to the priesthood, as well as a priest at Sydney, Australia in 2008, and Madrid in 2011 with teenagers from St. Rosalie’s and our diocese attending.

In reflecting on my vision of the Church, I like to keep Saint Paul's analogy in mind:  We are all one Body in Christ.  I thank my family and friends for nurturing me in the faith we profess in a God of Love who cares deeply for each one of us.   I have come to love Hampton Bays and the East End of long Island.  It is a wonderful community where families can build a wonderful life.  I am very honored to be asked to be the Grand Marshall of the 2017 San Genaro East Celebration. –Father Edward Sheridan
